How to Run VNMR on an SGI System
There are times when spectroscopist would like to run VNMR software from their SGI
station. It is possible to do if the following steps are first taken:
- A file named "olgl12_sun.pcf.Z" needs to be copied via ftp into your
SGI directory /usr/lib/x11/fonts/misc
. You will need to contact an SGI administrator
for this action.
- You next issue the "mkfontdir" command on the /usr/lib/x11/fonts/misc directory
to rebuild the fonts.dir file within
that directory.
- Rehash the font path (until the next reboot) by typing "xset fp rehash
".
- To start running VNMR you need to set the xhost permissions and then login. You
next set the display server and then type "VNMR".
- An alternative to step 4 would be to download vnmr.csh into your /usr/local/bin/vnmr directory and issue
the "chmod 755" command on this file. This allows the
file to be executable.
