Setting Up The I500 For Bio Spectra

In order to expedite the start of acquisition for Dr. Stone on the I500, the following steps should be taken when setting up the I500.

  1. The Varian Triple Resonance probe should be installed and shimmed.
  2. The RF wiring should have the amplifier #1 output going to the proton input on the probe via the pre-amp housing. Amplifier #2 output is going to the carbon input on the probe (bypassing the pre-amp housing). Amplifier #4 output is going to the nitrogen input on the probe (bypassing the pre-amp housing).
  3. The system should be equilibrated to 30 degrees C with the cooling unit set to ~10 degrees C.
  4. The probe needs to be tuned to H, N, and C.
  5. The gradient amplifier should be warmed up for one to two hours.
  6. Cryogen filling should be complete before the start of these runs as the runs may last for several days plus. If a filling has to be done during the run, a two to three day notice should be given to the Stone group so they may plan around the filling.
