How to Reboot the Spectrometers
Reboot the spectrometer radio frequency hardware console if:
- the spectrometer ignores your command to start an acquisition
- the spectrometer queues your acquisition, even though no acquisition is currently running
- you can't connect to the lock window
- the lock signal is a strange-looking series of vertical lines
- the Acquisition Status is "interactive"
To Reboot the Gem300:
Type gem300fix in the VNMR software window and follow the instructions.
During the reboot procedure, teh spectrometer will ask you to push the
console reset switch, which is located in the radio frequency hardware console---just open the console door.
To Reboot the I500 or I400:
- Open a UNIX window.
- Type su acqproc.
The spectrometer will respond with killing acqproc
- Open the left door of the radio frequency hardware console. Locate the small, red RESET
switch on th left-most computer board (this board is marked as the CPU board).
Push in this RESET switch.
- Locate the Magnet/Sample REgulation board (7 slots to the right of the CPU board). The fail
light should be RED. Wait until the fail light turns off and the READY AP
light turns GREEN.
- Type su acqproc.
The spectrometer will respond with starting acqproc.
- Type exit to close the UNIX window
- In the VNMR software window, type load='y' su
- Check the lock signal
- If the spectrometer still misbeahves, try this procedure again, then contact the NMR Facility Staff
To Reboot the VXR400:
- Open a UNIX window.
- Type su acqproc.
The spectrometer will respond with killing acqproc
- Type su acqproc.
The spectrometer will respond with starting acqproc.
- Type exit to close the UNIX window
- In the VNMR software window, type load='y' su
- Check the lock signal
- If the spectrometer still misbeahves, try this procedure again, then contact the NMR Facility Staff
