Transferring a NMR Spectra to a Word Document

Contributed by Kyle Starkey

Have you ever wanted to take a copy of your spectra and place it into a document? Kyle shares a method with us that works for him.

  1. Save the NMR as a postscript file as outlined on the NMR facilities web site. For better looking graphics, it is best to use a line width of at least 5 pixels when the postscript file is generated (use pagelw(#)).

  2. Ftp the file to one any of the student Macintosh clusters using Fetch.

  3. Load the *.EPS file into Adobe PhotoShop (currently available on all UITS Mac clusters, including those in A700).

  4. Manipulate the file as desired (add graphics or notes, delete unwanted text, rotate the image, etc).

  5. Choose "Save A Copy" under the file menu and select the file type you would like. PICT, TIFF, JPEG files are easily read by almost all word processor, graphic, presentation or web development software.

Thanks for the info Kyle.
