Mag Res: Magnet Reservation system through the internet
Unauthorized users should see the DEMO of Mag Res page.
Authorized users should see the official Mag Res page.
This reservation system for UNIX-based NMR spectrometers is used to:
  • view the daily schedule for one or more spectrometers
  • view the monthly calendar for a particular spectrometer
  • allow authorized users to add & delete spectrometer reservations
  • allow special authorized users to add & delete full-day reservations or change comments on the Calendar pages

A more complete description is available in the README file.

This application is publicly available. See the DOWNLOAD PAGE for details.

This application was presented at the annual meeting of the Association of Managers of Magnetic Resonance Laboratories (AMMRL), March 1999, Orlando, FL.
Annotated copies of the presentation are available.

VNMRPlot: A general system for post-processing VNMR PostScript(R) plot files.
FEATURES:
  • Supports letter, legal and tabloid page sizes on multi-tray printers from within VNMR.
  • Supports manual feed on various printers from within VNMR.
  • Supports variable resolutions (300, 600, 1200 dpi) for HP 4000/5000/8000 printers.
  • Enables user-chooseable linewidths for plots.
  • Other features for various printers and plotters are also available. See the README file for details.
VNMRPlot has been thoroughly tested in the NMR Facility at Indiana University. Installation (via the "install" script) and configuration for other NMR Facilities should be very straightforward (directions are available in teh README file). According to vendor specifications, especially the spcifications for standard PostScript format, all listed plotters should be compatible with VNMRPlot. However, by making VNMRPlot publicly available, we imply no guarantee of reliability or offer of warranty on other laboratories or reseearch environments.

VNMRPlot was developed by Marty Berliner, with assistance from Marty Pagel. Technical assistance, on a time available basis, may be available by contacing us at chemnmr@indiana.edu.

Mag Log: Accounting system for UNIX-based Varian spectrometers
Unauthorized users should see the DEMO of Mag Log.
Authorized users should see the official Mag Log page.
This accounting system for UNIX-based NMR spectrometers is used to:
  • automatically record spectrometer usage
  • automatically generate billing reports for each research group and the Business Office
  • allow authorized users to review spectrometer usage through web forms

Current Facility Activity
Query activity on Varian NMR Spectrometers through the internet. If the spectrometer is in use and an acquisition is active, details of the active experiment are also available. This program has been tested on Varian Unity, Gemini2000, Unity+, and Inova NMR spectrometers.

Tally of NMR Experiments Completed
Augmentation to Matt Wright's popular Counter program (version 1.1.1) to automatically count the number of *.fid files generated on Varian NMR spectrometers each day, add this number to the grand total, and display this number on a web page. See the Experiments Completed Page for details.

Laboratory Temperature Recorder
The temperature of the NMR Facility is recorded using a Hot Little Therm and software from Spiderplant. Our scripts record the temperature of each sensor every 15 minutes using Spiderplant's "therm" program, and trim the log to keep only the last 7 days of data. Spiderplant's "thermgif" software does not compile on our Sparc 5. Instead, we wrote a CGI/Perl interface using gnuplot to view these temperature logs.
