Introduction
The NMR Facility is a service and research laboratory operated by and for
the Indiana University Chemistry Department. The laboratory performs and
assists in magnetic resonance spectroscopy which furthers the research goals
of departmental faculty, staff, and students.
Spectrometer Users
17 (45%) of 38 tenured or tenure-track faculty in the Chemistry Department
direct research programs which use the NMR Facility. 122 (53%) of
approximatelay 230 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and research
associates in the Chemistry Department use NMR Facility resources. Since
some users are trained to use more than one spectrometer, the sum of users
trained on each spectrometer is 170, 56 (33%) of whom were trained in 1994.
The NMR Facility is open 24 hours per day and 365 days per year for
collaborative or independent use by trained research chemists.
Notable services provided in 1994
- Written guidelines were improved for non-routine experiments on the
VXR400 spectrometer.
- Automation routines were written for several complicated, popular experiments on the
VXR400 and NT360 spectrometers.
- A series of workshops was conducted in the spring semester to improve the training of
spectrometer users.
