We have always had the rule that users are not permitted to reserve multiple instruments for the same time. To clarify this rule the following sentence has been added to the Training Manual: Reservations for the same time slots on multiple instruments are not allowed.
Dichloroethane works with Setlock
A new solvent dichloroethane has been added into the probe file on the 500 and 400s and works well with “Setlock”.
If your solvent is not on the solvent list of vnmrJ or does not work well with “Setlock”, please let me know. I’ll take care of it.
User Feedback Requested – Off Campus Access
We are increasing security on NMR spectrometers and data stations and plan to move to IUB only IP addresses. You would still be able to access your data outside IUB with VPN. Please contact Doug or Frank if this would pose any problems for your continued enjoyment of the NMR facilities!
NMRSUN4 retired
The old SUN Blade 150 is retired.
Doug and Frank away 4/14 – 4/20
Doug and Frank will be attending 53rd Experimental NMR Conference at Miami, FL from April 14th to 20th. Doug will also attend Agilent Users’ Meeting. If you need assistance during this period, contact Dejian (855-4478, Simon 037).
Network Upgrade Coming
The Chemistry NMR facility is scheduled for the network upgrade starting end of April. We will minimize downtime but there might be some.
HMQC/HSQC/HMBC work well on I500
HMQC, HSQC and HMBC experiments now work well on the I500 after an unstable broadband RF amplifier was replaced. We have optimized two HSQC experiments for the I500: “iuhsqc” gives higher sensitivity, “iuhsqcad” gives better quality (less artifacts).
NMRs are back up
All the spectrometers are operational after the power outage this morning.
HMQC/HSQC/HMBC not work on I500
HMQC, HSQC and HMBC experiments currently are not working well on the I500 due to a hardware problem. All other experiments, including routine 1H, 13C, COSY, NOESY, ROESY, etc. work with no problem.
Safety Reminder
No lab gloves are allowed in the NMR facility.
Only capped or sealed tubes are allowed in the NMR facility. All other chemistry (titrations, etc.) must be done elsewhere. A small wet lab (237A) is available off the NMR facility for this purpose.
