The I400 4-Nucleus probe is being sent for repair. It typically take about 6 weeks for a probe repair.
The PFG inverse detection probe is now in. Versus the PFG probe, this probe:
– * cannot do 19F and 31P experiments *
– has better 1H (more than double the signal to noise and better resolution) – this is also true of all routine 2D experiments
– has worse 13C S/N
– has similar gradient shimming
Use the Gem300 for routine 19F and 31P and you will want to use the VXR400 for most 13C experiments. Specialized 19F and 31P experiments can be run on the I400 and I500 (with different probes) – prearrange with Frank or Doug!
