The pulse gradient driver on the I500 is currently not working.  Gradient versions of 1D & 2D experiments and diffusion experiment are not available at this moment.

Setting Temperature vs Actual Temperature

Actual sample temperature could be different from displayed temperature (or setting temperature if the temperature has been regulated), especially at very high or very low temperature. We recently re-calibrated the sample temperature for all spectrometers, and wrote a macro command set_temp to let users read the actual temperature of samples and set the desired sample temperature accurately.

  • To read the actual sample temperature of the current setting, type set_temp.
  • To set the sample temperature to 40 °C (actual), type set_temp(40). This sets the parameter temp to a value calculated based on the temperature calibration. You will still need to click Regulate Temp on Spin/Temp page (or type su) to initiate the temperature change.

A short manual for set_temp can be displayed on Text Output page by typing man(‘set_temp’).

Chemistry NMRs Unavailable 2/10 6:30am – 9am

A compressed air shutdown is scheduled on Feb. 10, 6:30am – 9am. The NMR spectrometers in the Chemistry NMR lab (C237) will not be available during this period of time.Neuheit Inflatables

800 Available

The coldprobe service is complete. A C13 decoupling noise problem has been fixed. The 800 is available to users now.

600 Available

The coldprobe service has been completed for V600. The 600 is available to users now.

V800 is still waiting for the service to complete by Agilent. Approximately, it will be available on Dec. 6.

800 & 600 Unavailable Nov. 19 – 27

Annual services of the coldprobes of V800 and V600 are scheduled on November 25 – 27. These two spectrometers will not be available to users during this period of time. Please plan accordingly.

Update: last night (Nov. 18) there was a problem on the building compressed air supply, which caused both 800 and 600 coldprobes warmed up. So, both systems are unavailable from now until Nov. 28 9am.

Website Access Problem Fixed

In the past 72 hours, some users encoutered a problem which denied access to IU-only web pages (MAGRES and Roster) through IU-VPN, IU-wireless, and DHCP connections. This problem has been fixed.
