IU NMR Facility

The button on the top of the file tool which corresponds to the 300 is now marked with user’s three-letter username. Clicking on this button will directly access user’s home folder on gem300.

The NMR facility will be unstaffed on July 4th.

The I400 4-Nucleus probe is being sent for repair. It typically take about 6 weeks for a probe repair.

The PFG inverse detection probe is now in. Versus the PFG probe, this probe:

– * cannot do 19F and 31P experiments *
– has better 1H (more than double the signal to noise and better resolution) – this is also true of all routine 2D experiments
– has worse 13C S/N
– has similar gradient shimming

Use the Gem300 for routine 19F and 31P and you will want to use the VXR400 for most 13C experiments. Specialized 19F and 31P experiments can be run on the I400 and I500 (with different probes) – prearrange with Frank or Doug!

The drain valve of the air dryer went bad and needs to be replaced. A new valve has been ordered and will come soon. For time being,  the old valve is used after clean up to keep the spectrometers running. Hopefully it will last long enough until we get the new valve. If you notice an air leak from the air dryer in room C237A, please report it to the NMR staff right away.

We have a problem with the lab air dryer. The spectrometers in the Chemistry NMR facility are temporarily down.

13C and 31P are ok, 1H and 19F work at reduced S/N and longer pulse widths. Probe default values have been updated but proton decoupling for 13C may be affected.

2D experiments should be run on the VXR400 and I500 instead of this instrument.

The I400 probe will be sent for repair soon!

i400 is now back up.

Someone broke a sample tube inside the i400 magnet. The probe and its accessory need to be uninstalled and cleaned. The spectrometer will be temporarily unavailable for 4-5 hours.

i400 is back running. The problem was actually a bad video card which has just been replaced.

i400 is down duo to some software issues.
