Mnova License Server Problem

Some Mnova users may have encountered a license problem if he/she activated or re-activated his/her license files lately. An error message would pop up saying “Error validating NMR v1.4: Failed to connect to license server……”. This was caused by a problem on ITG’s license server. ITG will work out a solution to it, and hopefully the license server will work again by early next week.

If Mnova program works properly on your computer, do NOT re-activate your license file.

Solvent suppression

If you need solvent suppression to get better quality NMR data, please check out this page. Three different suppression techniques were compared on 1D proton spectra using the 600 with cold probe.

Gem300 printing

The Gem300 printer has been taken offline, because its unreliable network card sometimes causes VNMR software to stop responding. The default printer for the Gem300 is now “i400lj” – the printer next to the I400 computer.

The Gem300 works well after removing the problematic printer.

Advanced NMR Training

The next Advanced NMR training session will be Tuesday, Oct.2 from 10am-noon. In this session the basic concepts of 2D NMR will be introduced and we’ll go through setup, acquistion, processing and plotting of the common 2D NMR 1H-1H and 1H-13C experiments including COSY, NOESY, HMQC/HSQC and HMBC and also selective 1D NOESY.

We’ll be at an instrument so please let me know if you plan to attend! Also let me know if there are other days or times that would work better for you.

Email Doug for reservations, questions or specific requests.

Mnova Webinar

We are planing to have a Mestrenova webinar given by the Mestrelab scientist. This webinar will be dedicted to us, and more like a training course. Both basic and advanced topics will be covered. You will learn how to use Mnova to process, analyze and publish your NMR data. All major features of our current version (v.6) and some new features of Mnova version 8 will be talked. You will also have a chance to ask questions and get the answers during the webinar.

I need to know how many people would be attending and what topics interest you the most. If you’re willing to attend, please send an email to me (Frank) with your comments/suggestions ASAP.

Here is a list of possible topics:
– Processing, analysis and reporting multiple 1D and 2D NMR, including manual and automated peak assignment;
– Quantitative NMR analysis;
– NMR-based reaction monitoring and kinetic studies;
– NMR-based metabolomics studies;
– NMR-based protein-ligand binding screening;
– DOSY processing and diffusion studies;
– Building your own NMR and MS spectral databases to manage, search and share your spectral and structural information;
– Automated structure verification based on NMR and LC/MS for building compound libraries.

I400 Available

The cantaminates has been successfully removed. The I400 is now up running with good performance on all four (1H, 13C, 19F, 31P) nuclei.

Please protect our instruments. Handle your samples with intensive care. If a sample is broken or spilled into magnet, report to the NMR staff IMMEDIATELY.

I400 Unavailable

I’m working on the probe cleanup. The I400 is not available for use probably until Thursday morning. Use the Gem300 for 19F and 31P during this period of time.
